Kirsty and Terri opened PALS with the intention of providing a service for our members whom require assistance with maintaining daily routines, allowing more time to focus on the positive elements of life.  We take the time to understand our members and pair these with our PALS who form a professional and enjoyable friendship.

Our immediate PALS team are on hand to help you with every step of your journey from daily routines and companionship though to connecting you with a wider team of professionals and businesses; chiropodists, hair salons, tradesmen and local tourist attractions including a cinema club and more.

Companionship and help around the house

There is nothing more enjoyable to our PALS than socialising with you; we are keen to know your interests and based on these create ideas to experience and share with you. We can also help you round the house with light domestic chores.

Companionship establishes a sense of belonging and reduces the feeling of loneliness for all. Spending and sharing time with a companion can promote greater mental health and well-being.

Come and spend the day with PALS and experience our range of activities from day trips to local attractions, arts and craft, music therapy, exploring nature in or outdoors, reminiscing, baking and walking.

The day begins with a friendly PAL collecting you from your home where you will arrive at our meeting point, we will all attend a local attraction, feast on a two course meal and refreshments throughout the day before returning you home safely, full of happiness and feeling content.

“Before PALS, I was supporting and caring for my mum every day. As mum became more and more in need of support, I found myself increasingly out of my depth and struggling to cope with the whole situation. Our PAL changed all that and turned things around, offering practical help, a wealth of experience, kindness and understanding. BR

PALS gave me the tools I needed to cope better, visited mum in her home and as the friendship and trust developed, mum and her PAL would go out to lunch together, go shopping, go to the cinema or even just a ride in the country side.  I could see mum flourishing as the friendship grew and this was lovely to watch. A couple of years down the line, mum is now in full time residential care, her PAL continues to visit her twice a week and they still experience lots of lovely things together. MS

“Feel so fortunate to have found this wonderful service! My mum has dementia and her social life was dwindling as I work full time and can’t get her to places. When I heard about PALS and their ethos of having days out, pick up, activities, lunch and drop off it seemed to good to be true.” WS

“Mum had a fab day with Kirsty and Terri. She was so chirpy when I got round there and said ‘how kind and caring’ they were and really enjoyed the company of other PALS too! I also felt very happy on Monday as I knew Mum was out enjoying herself and having a fun time!”

“Kirsty and Terri really take the time to get to know their PALS. They bother to take a lot of background information – all of which helps both parties ‘get to know’ each other and build upon the history of the PALS lives.” TD
